Iran in the Afghan Media
- Afghan senators condemn Ahmadinejad’s remarks on the U.S. policy in Afghanistan as a sign of Iran’s interference in Afghanistan.
- “This is the Iranian government which funds and trains the Taliban and has established military bases for the Taliban in a number of key Iranian cities,” said Khaliqdad Belaghi, a senator from Kabul. He also alleged that President Karzai remained silent to Ahmadinejad’s anti-American tirade because he receives money from Iran.
- “The arrival of foreign countries to Afghanistan has at least paved the way for rebuilding the country’s infrastructure. Now the Iranian government wants to fuel civil war in Afghanistan and turn this country into ruins,” said anther senator Nesar Haris.
