Sher Muhammed Qasab, the Swat Taliban commander for Charbagh, was arrested Wednesday; security forces in Dera Ismail Khan killed seven militants; administrators in Mohmand claimed the Agency is 80 percent cleared of militants

  • Sher Muhammed Qasab, the Swat Taliban leader for the Charbagh area, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday. Qasab, considered one of the Pakistani army's "most wanted" militants, had a price on his head of 10 million rupees (approximately $120,000).[1]
  • Pakistani security forces in Dera Ismail Khan killed at least seven unidentified militants on Wednesday. The operation was reportedly launched following a tip-off from local sources regarding the presence of forces belonging to militant commander Ashraf Ali Mujahid.[2]
  • Administrators in Mohmand claimed Wednesday that the Agency had been "80 percent cleared" of militants. Local officials reported that 245 militants have been killed and 210 arrested there within the past year.[3]
