Pakistan Security Brief - August 26, 2009�
Pakistani helicopter gunships struck militant positions in South Waziristan in a clearing operation to facilitate the movement of military forces; Interpol issued a "red notice" for Jamat-ud-Dawa and Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliated leader Hafiz Saeed in connection with his alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack; security forces arrested militants in Swat and continued to find dead Taliban militant bodies in the area.
- On Wednesday Pakistani jets and helicopter gunships attacked militant positions in South Waziristan Agency. A military official described the actions as part of a "road clearance operation" in which security forces were attempting to secure twenty kilometers of road between South Waziristan and nearby Dera Ismail Khan in order to make it safe for the movement of military forces.[1]
� - Interpol has issued an "international wanted notice" for Hafiz Saeed, the head of Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD), an alleged front for the Pakistani terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Saeed stands accused by India of complicity in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.[2]
� - On Tuesday security forces in Swat arrested eight suspected militants while "three more bodies of Taliban militants were found in Swat." This raises the number of bodies discovered in Swat district to twenty-two in the last day.[3]
