Yemen Security Brief
- Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) militants attacked a date factory in Seiyun, Hadramawt on June 26, killing three workers and wounding six others.[1]
- The Yemeni 310th Armored Brigade, supported by al Islah party tribesmen, clashed with al Houthi militants in the Mahshash and al Jannat Mountains in Amran on June 27.[2]
- The Yemeni 33rd Armored Brigade bombed the entrance of a market in al Dhaleh on June 27.[3]
- Unidentified gunmen clashed with Yemeni Central Security Forces in a market in al Hawtah, Lahij on June 27, killing one soldier and one civilian and wounding two others.[4]
- Unidentified assailants detonated an unidentified explosive device near the 20th Yemeni military camp in Aden on June 27.[5]
Horn of Africa Security Brief
- Al Shabaab militants ambushed AMISOM and Somali National Army (SNA) forces near Hudur, Bakool region on June 27. The ambush prompted heavy fighting between the two sides, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties.[6]
- Somaliland security forces reportedly withdrew from the disputed town of Taleh, Sool region on June 26. The withdrawal came as Puntland continued to threaten a military response to Somaliland’s presence in the disputed territory and after international stakeholders called for dialogue between the two regional administrations.[7]
