Yemen: Saudi soldiers killed by al Houthi shelling along border; gunmen storm office of ICRC in Aden

Yemen Security Brief
- Three Saudi soldiers were killed between August 24 and August 25 from cross border shelling by the al Houthis along the Yemeni-Saudi border. There has been an escalation in violence along the border this week as a Saudi commander was killed on August 23 from al Houthi shelling.[1]
- Unidentified gunmen stormed the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Aden city, southern Yemen, on August 24. The gunmen held the staff at gunpoint and stole cars, money, and equipment.[2]
Horn of Africa Security Brief
- Al Shabaab militants attacked a military base in Qodahley, near Garbaharey, in Gedo region, on August 24. The militants failed to storm the base, and Somali forces managed to kill several militants. Al Shabaab militants also attempted to storm a base near Burhakaba town on August 25. Somali forces repelled the attack and killed seven militants.[3]
- The Somali National Army (SNA) retook the villages of Marerey, Sabiid, and Anoole in Lower Shabelle region from al Shabaab on August 24.[4]
