• Reactions to unrest in Britain:
  • The Foreign Ministry warns Iranian citizens against visiting Britain.
  • Farda News suggests Iran’s embassy in London give asylum to the protesters in Britain.
• [E] Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani officially invited his Pakistani counterpart Fahmida Mirza to attend the 5th Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada (uprising) to be held in Tehran in October.
• [E] Iran's Red Crescent Society announced that it has sent a planeload of humanitarian aids to the Somali people as the North African country is fighting drought and famine.
• [E] A senior Iranian parliamentarian underscored that the Zionist regime is now surrounded by a number of revolutionary countries and its collapse is imminent.

Military and Security

• Revolutionary Guards Chief Mohammad-Ali Aziz Jafari appoints Abolqassem Mozaffari Shams new Khatam al-Anbia Construction Base chief of the Revolutionary Guards. Former Khatam al-Anbia chiefs include Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Yahya Rahim Safavi and Rostam Qassemi.
• Fars News accuses the US military officials of holding meetings with the leaders of the PJAK terrorist group in Iraq's Kurdistan region to discuss ways of providing military and financial support for the group.

Economy

• Aftab News says government employees spend more time in eating, drinking tea and talking on the phone than working. It estimates that the average daily “effective work hour” at government offices is only one hour and four minutes.

• Sri Lanka’s energy minister says the sanctions regime has created problems for Iranian power plant projects in Sri Lanka.
