A US drone attack in North Waziristan kills six militants; two suspected suicide bombers are arrested in Balochistan; five militants are killed in Mohmand Agency; several people are injured in two separate bomb blasts; Indian forces kill a top militant leader in Jammu and Kashmir; US Defense Secretary Gates visits New Dehli.

Two missiles fired from a US drone on Tuesday have killed at least six militants in the village of Degan in North Waziristan. The nationalities of those killed and whether or not any high value targets were present at the time of the attack is still unknown.[1]

Police in the Lasbela district of Balochistan have arrested two suspected suicide bombers. Officials believe the suspects are members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and were planning to carry out a suicide attack against police and government officials in the district.[2]

Security forces and armed peace committee volunteers killed five militants during an attack on a checkpoint in Mohmand Agency late Monday night. A militant commander, Ghulam Muhammad, is reported to be among the dead.[3]

Five people have been injured in a roadside bomb attack in Peshawar. The explosion occurred outside the home of a lawmaker from the Awami National Party (ANP) who was counted among the wounded. On Tuesday, three people were also injured when a bicycle bomb detonated near a parking lot in Jaffarabad.[4]

Indian security forces have reportedly killed a top leader of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials believe that Abdullah Simi, a Pakistani native, was involved in the 2005 attack on Akshardham temple in Gujarat.[5]

In a visit to New Dehli, US Defense Secretary Gates warned that al-Qaeda forces in the region could attempt to ‘trigger a war’ between India and Pakistan.[6]
